Law Enforcement Inquiries

Last updated: October 9, 2026

almost™ responds to lawful requests for user information from government and law enforcement agencies in accordance with applicable law. We require valid legal process before disclosing nonpublic user information, and we review every request to ensure it is legally valid and appropriately scoped.

Legal process required

We disclose basic subscriber information (such as name, email address, and account creation date) only in response to a valid subpoena or court order. We disclose the contents of communications only in response to a valid search warrant or equivalent court order.

How to submit a request

Law enforcement officials may submit requests to lawenforcement@getalmost.com. Requests should identify the issuing authority, the legal basis, the specific account(s) or records sought, and the relevant time period. We do not accept legal process via in-app messages or social media.

Emergency disclosures

If we have a good-faith belief that an emergency involving imminent danger of death or serious physical injury requires immediate disclosure, we may voluntarily share information with law enforcement without waiting for legal process.

Preservation

Upon receipt of a valid preservation request, we will preserve relevant records for up to 90 days pending formal legal process.

Checking the status of a request

To check the status of a submitted request, reply to your original email thread or write to lawenforcement@getalmost.com from an official agency email address. Please include your agency name, case or reference number, the date the request was submitted, and the requesting officer's name and contact details. We will confirm receipt and respond with the current status of the request. For security reasons, we do not provide status updates by phone or to personal email addresses.

User notification

Unless prohibited by law or court order, or in emergency circumstances, we will notify the affected user before disclosing their information.

If notice is delayed or prohibited by a non-disclosure order, court seal, or applicable law, we will not notify the user while that restriction remains in effect. Once the restriction expires or is lifted, or the emergency has passed, we will notify the user by email at the address associated with their account, describing the request and the information disclosed, to the extent legally permitted.

Nothing in this section limits our ability to report suspected child exploitation, human trafficking, or other serious criminal activity to the appropriate authorities, including the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC).
